Nisqually is forecasted to be just under 2k! This level makes the fun parts funner and the slow parts shorter. The Nisqually is a scenic 10 mile run through Joint Base Lewis McChord south of Tacoma. It is mostly class 2 with a single class 3 rapid that has a good recovery pool afterwards. It is a longer run, so it is suggested to pack a lunch or substantial snack. Meet at Yelm Hydro-Plant take-out, ready to shuttle by 10am. Yelm Hydro-Plant is located in Nisqually Park (not to be confused with Nisqually State Park, which is a different location). See Google Maps link for location. We will shuttle to the put-in at McKenna Park.

A couple rules -

......................................................................................................................................................................

1 - (MOST IMPORTANT) - RINSE YOUR BOAT. Either at home or at the pool. All the schmutz, dirt and leaves need to be OUT. The boat needs to be CLEAN or we might lose this pool forever. If you can‘t find the hose to rinse your boat at the pool, ask someone.

......................................................................................................................................................................

2 - Helmet REQUIRED
......................................................................................................................................................................

3 - We need to be completely out of the water by 9:30pm, and out of the building, doors locked behind us by 10:00pm.
......................................................................................................................................................................

4- No seal-launching. Even if you just slide your empty boat in/out of the pool, put a towel or kickboard under it to protect the pool lip

NEW this year - the ACA will award a cash prize to the top athletes ages 16 years and younger in each geographic region. Based on river projections, I‘ve decided to lead this trip at the Nisqually River. This would be an excellent river for those just graduated from the Beginner Whitewater class.

The Nisqually is a scenic 10 mile run through Joint Base Lewis McChord south of Tacoma. It is mostly class 2 with a single class 3 rapid that has a good recovery pool afterwards. It is a longer run, so it is suggested to pack a lunch or substantial snack.

Meet at Yelm Hydro-Plant take-out, ready to shuttle by 11am. Yelm Hydro-Plant is located in Nisqually Park (not to be confused with Nisqually State Park, which is a different location). See Google Maps link for location. We will shuttle to the put-in at McKenna Park.
