Vendovi Island is owned by the San Juan Preservation Trust and open to the public. It has one of the most beautiful beaches in the San Juans, and a couple miles of hiking trails through pristine forest to stunning viewpoints. The island has rare flowers and grasses, untouched by invasive species. Seals give birth to their pups on the many pocket beaches.
It is easy to get to Vendovi with a 2 mile crossing from Guemes, and a 1 mile circumnavigation to view all its charms. The visit is appropriate for most skill levels if the weather is benign, however windy surprises can kick up some chop due to a large fetch in most directions.
