I plan on meeting at the Copper Canyon take-out and LEAVING the take-out by 11am. Copper Canyon: https://www.lcpud.org/recreation/take-out-sites/. Please note that there are no directions on how to get to Copper Canyon on the PUD website. On the map, it is not labeled, except as "take-out".
Adventure Time! This run has a true wilderness feel and even though it seems close to home, it takes a little more effort to run this section.
The intention is to run the class 3 section from Big Creek to Spur 10 bridge, which is similar in difficulty to the lower Green River gorge with the potential for fresh wood. The road to the put in is a bit of a rugged dirt road so higher clearance vehicles are preffered. This section of river runs through private logging property and there is a mandatory $12 day use permit (link included). Please don‘t buy your day use permit early becasue it is only good for the one day stated on it! I will confirm levels are good the week of the trip and we can coordinate getting the day use permits. I can print them out but everyone will need to have a copy in hand for the trip. There is also a 1.5 mile hike out on a logging road since we won‘t have vehicle access. Its fairly flat and wide open, just a much longer carry out than many are used to.
If levels are too low, we will run the lower section of the NF Snoqualmie from my house to Three Forks Park. This section is about 3 miles and a class 2+ section. There is about a .5 mile hike to the put in down a dry creek bed that is pretty rugged so be prepared.
For either section we end up running, we will meet at Three Forks Park (map link included) to set shuttle.
If you have not paddled with me or are unsure if these runs are within your skill set, please reach out to me with an email or text to coordinate.

Open pool play in both ends. No polo. Come out, get wet, have fun!
Be sure to rinse your boat thoroughly before entering the pool.
A couple rules -
......................................................................................................................................................................
1 - (MOST IMPORTANT) - RINSE YOUR BOAT. Either at home or at the pool. All the schmutz, dirt and leaves need to be OUT. The boat needs to be CLEAN or we might lose this pool forever. If you can‘t find the hose to rinse your boat at the pool, ask someone.
......................................................................................................................................................................
2 - Helmet REQUIRED
......................................................................................................................................................................
3 - We need to be completely out of the water by 9:30pm, and out of the building, doors locked behind us by 10:00pm.
......................................................................................................................................................................
4- No seal-launching. Even if you just slide your empty boat in/out of the pool, put a towel or kickboard under it to protect the pool lip
Casual skills practice and hangout every Tuesday and Thursday to practice fundamentals, learn play boating, and river running skills. We will progress to harder sections as the season progresses.

This is a Class III stretch of the Green River. It‘s the section on this American Whitewater page described from Paradise (listed as distance 5.23) to Flaming Geyser State Park Take Out (listed as distance 11.97): https://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/view/river-detail/2123/mainac
We will meet at this pin - https://maps.app.goo.gl/xy4bhcxYtLf23r9r5 - at Flaming Geyser State Park at 1:30 and shuttle to the put in. Please plan to be fully dressed in a dry suit and with all your whitewater gear by 1:45pm.
To come on this trip, you should be comfortable on Class II+ and have paddled Class III. If you‘re not sure, email me! Newer boaters welcome, but this is not a beginner stretch.
We‘ll plan on eddying out and surfing some along the run.
Open pool play / practice in shallow end only. Polo in deep end. Come out, get wet, have fun!
Rinse your boat thoroughly before entering the pool.
If you want to play polo part of the time, that‘s fine too. If so, this is the registration to use.
This event will register you for kayak polo in the deep end. If you want general practice in the shallow end, use the other event on this same date

Meet at Blue Stone Cafe in Randle at 10:00am and we will set up shuttle.
Mostly class III boat scouting but need to navigate wood in the river. Class IV rapid ‘White lightening‘ is an easy portage.
On May 17th, 2008, we lost Mike Stano, a good friend and valued member of the WKC and paddling community. So, 16 years later let’s meet mid/late afternoon and celebrate Mike by paddling the upper gorge. Afterwards we’ll hang at Paradise to reminisce and swap stories, so bring your favorite snacks and beverage of choice. Didn’t know Mike? Doesn’t matter – he’d want you there anyway!
Note: This is a social paddle for any/all to celebrate Mike, and not a guided or “lead” trip down the Green.
This will be a fun time on the Sky to practice hitting differnt features. Our starting location will depend on the flow. If we launch above Boulder Drop, portaging Boulder will be recommended for everyone who is not comfortable with that drop. The Sky offers tons of features, and we‘ll play with as many as we can.

The WKC will be hosting our fourth annual Seattle-area BIPOC Paddling Skills Day on 09/07/24 and second-annual Community Float on 09/08/24 in partnership with Diversify Whitewater, a national nonprofit that works to share the beauty of paddling with Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), and Allies.
The goal of this event is to introduce the joy of paddling with people in the Seattle area who identify with traditionally under-represented communities, with the long-term aim of increasing representation and access to water sports recreation for all Seattle-area residents.
Participants will receive free gear rentals, paddling lessons, lunch, and tickets for a raffle of paddling-related prizes donated by local area outfitters and instructors as well as heart companies. Up to eight lucky participants will receive a paddling education scholarship to continue their progression in the sport!
Our tentative event plan is outlined below:
Day 1, September 7th, 2024: Paddling Skills Day at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah, WA. Participants will take free lessons in kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddling (SUP), and rafting on calm water. Two sessions will be offered, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Schedule:
8:30am - Morning session begins
12:00pm - Lunch and prize raffle for morning & afternoon participants
1:00pm - Afternoon session begins
Day 2, September 8th, 2024: Community downriver paddle (likely the Snoqualmie River, based on safe river conditions at the time). Participants will review safety & paddling skills from Day 1, and then everyone will set off down a section of class I-II rapids, guided by experienced instructors. Participating in the lessons during Day 1 is encouraged, but not required.
Please visit our Facebook event page for up-to-date information and registration as it becomes available.

The tidal exchange through Hammersley Inlet can create a strong current. A few times per year, this current happens in the middle of the day on a weekend. We will put in at Boston Harbor Marina in Olympia, ride the saltwater river to Shelton where we will have lunch and wait for the tide to change, then ride the current back.
This event is a placeholder, more details will be filled in later.
High tide is at 10:48am
