Sea Kayaking Discussion

Entry level training & some basic advice pleas...
Brock Hecla
I am a new member, YAY!, and looking forward to meeting some new kayak buddies around the area. My girlfriend and I are pretty new to the Kayak world but have been around the water a long time. I Currently live on a sailboat and spend most weekends on the water in some sort of floating device. My question is are there classes at all this winter, indoor pool is fine, that cover some of the basics? Capsize recovery, wet exit, strokes, etc ... I am planning on a pool session in the next two weeks up in shoreline to do some of my own practice in my new kayak but I wanted to reach out on the forum to see if anyone could point me in the right direction. I have a 16'6" Skin on frame sea kayak, and my girlfriend as a rec ish sit in kayak. Wilderness Pungo. Just looking to get into some basic touring and camping around the area via water. Nothing extreme, any advice is appreciated! Thanks everyone and Hello!

Hi Brock
Welcome to the club!  I don't think there are any formal WKC SK training classes scheduled for the winter.  Keep an eye out for the Basic SK class in the spring.  Check other local kayak schools for winter classes in the pool (Northwest Outdoor Center, Kayak Academy, Cascade Canoe and Kayak are the ones I know).  Otherwise, I'm pretty sure you will get help working on any skills you are interested in learning if you show up at a pool session and just ask.

Hi Brock,
I would be happy to help out at an upcoming pool session.
