A word from the Prez
Dear Washington Kayak Club Members,
I sure hope you are all enjoying our first summer in three years! If so, please tell us about and share your adventures by submitting a trip report (photos optional) to newsletter@washingtonkayakclub.org. Or write it on the back of a Werner paddle and send it to me.
Many thanks go to Gary Luhm for providing most of the photographs for this issue of the newsletter. We are going to take a publishing hiatus in August; the newsletter will be back in September.
A new Paddle Board will convene in the fall. Please consider serving on the board to help plan fun activities for your fellow club members. The time commitment involves one meeting per month from September through May. In the following year I hope to focus on how to get more trips on our calendar.
The WKC Coastal Clinic is being offered again this year. I participated in the clinic a few years back and it was the most fun and instructive class I have ever experienced. This class is ideal for those with intermediate kayak experience who want a little challenge, to experience the supreme beauty of ocean paddling, and to learn how to paddle safely and confidently in that environment. You will learn about swell, headlands chop, and surf landings. On Saturday there is usually a field trip to Shi Shi, Cape Flattery's caves, or Tatoosh Island.
