From the Prez

Winter is far from over (see forecast, sigh), so get wet – but stay warm – on the numerous club trips and classes being offered by your fellow club members.  Check out our full calendar of paddling events on the website, either under “Events” or “Calendar”!  I have been out on the water with many of you already this year and am thrilled to see a lot of new faces.

Waivers reach the digital age

Last month I reported that we’ve changed insurance and will no longer be using the ACA system.  The new insurer requires trip leaders to be CPR/FA certified and requires waivers to be signed.  This month I am happy to report that we have a new electronic waiver system that should be far better than printing out copies and passing around a clip board and keeping track of reams of paper.

In fact, paperwork at launch is no longer required for trips!  However, trip leaders may use paper waivers for their own use if they so choose, and paper waivers will continue to be used for pool sessions until further notice.

Here’s how to register for trips on the website

The new system requires you to register for trips on the web site event calendar.  During the registration process instructions will (hopefully) be shown on how to sign the waiver.  Just follow these three easy steps:

1. Download the waiver from the Club Info/Documents library in the Signed Waivers folder

2. Use the Sign feature of the latest Adobe Reader to fill in the blanks

3. Email the completed waiver back to your trip leader.

Celebrate!  It’s all about the paddling now.
