The Coastal Kayak Committee proposed changes to the Level 5: Advanced Open Water Coastal Kayaking Instructor Criteria and the Level 3: Coastal Kayaking Skills Assessment – and both were approved!

- The Level 3: Coastal Kayak Skills Assessment venue conditions have been changed to mirror those outlined in the Level 3: Coastal Kayaking Instructor Criteria, requiring two of the four listed conditions to be present during the course.

- Level 4: Open Water Coastal Kayaking instructors who wish to upgrade to Level 5 now have a reporting requirement in place of the 2-year waiting requirement.

What does this mean for you?

If you plan to offer a Level 3: Coastal Kayaking Skills Assessment, you’ll need to become familiar with the assessment document.

If you are an aspiring Level 5: Advanced Open Water Coastal Kayaking Instructor, please review the new instructor criteria document.
