Cedar River Slalom Weekend: May 3 - 4

Published on 4/1/2014
Try your hand at making the moves on the Cedar River Slalom Course this spring!
The League of Northwest Whitewater Racers will be holding an informal slalom weekend at the Cedar River on May 3 and 4. This is the perfect event to come out and give slalom paddling a try.

Paddlers will be playing around on the course all day Saturday. Come by anytime for practice or informal clinics. The rapid on the Cedar is II+, but slalom gates are set up to make several interesting moves to try. On Sunday, the race is held at 10am.  This activity is suitable for whitewater kayaks and canoes.

The event is located at Landsburg Park where the Issaquah-Hobart Road crosses the Cedar river. One way to get there is to take the Front Street exit off I-90 in Issaquah and drive south about 20 minutes. For directions: https://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/2078/

For more information about using slalom gates for building your whitewater skills, articles from the Endless River Adventures blog can be found here: http://www.endlessriveradventures.com/news?showarchive=Technique%2FSkill+Development.
