Kayak Forward Stroke Technique:
The Nitty Gritty on Efficiency
with Dan Henderson

Want to kayak further with less fatigue? Come to June's WWTA's Education Series class, taught byDan Henderson, President of Cascade Paddlesports, and learn the bio-mechanical principles that will help you paddle on our gorgeous water trails with less chance of injury and more energy to enjoy the view...all while raising money for WWTA to keep building the trails so there are more sites to visit!

Dan has spent countless hours in WWU's biomechanics lab and on the water, gathering data. In this engaging presentation Dan distills the hard science into clear principles that contribute to an efficient stroke.

Understanding these principles will help any kayaker save energy at any pace, and have direct application to activities of daily living, especially as we age. Dan has completed extensive graduate-level course study in Exercise Science at Western Washington University and his thesis topic is the Kayak Forward Stroke.

He is the author of the International Canoe Federation Coaching Manual - the world and Olympic canoe & kayak governing body, as well as the Mountaineers Press Outdoor Expert Series, Sea Kayaking, Basic Skills, Paddling Techniques, and Trip Planning.
