The Rush of Whitewater

Published on 6/8/2014

What is it about the rush of whitewater that seems to grab people and make them want more? New members: Cathy Haggerty and Andy Gross have signed up with a rush of whitewater trips under their belt, and asking for more. Below is the Wenatchee River near Peshastin in April...

...and below is the Nisqually River above the powerhouse in May

A group of WKC kayakers have been enjoying the Lower Green Gorge.  It is still just as gorgeous as ever and the flows are lowering now, so the time to go is today and tomorrow.

On this day at about 880cfs, we managed to fit few rocks and catch more waves.  Below is the high priest of the Gorge, Michael Deckert, the guy that has spent more time on those surf waves
than anybody know to us.   Thanks for the inspiration Michael, without you I would never know a guy in a boat could make those moves.   Below he surfs the "hole in the wall," wave which
is best at about 750cfs.   And yes, Michael is backward in the ware, having just spun around to surf that way for a while.    I was on the wave for about 3 seconds.
