Volunteers Needed on the Skykomish River: October 18 - 19

Published on 9/27/2014

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The whitewater downriver race to select the 2015 National Wildwater Kayak team members will be held on the Skykomish River October 18-19th this year.  Safety boaters are needed for the sprint and classic events.  The race will start BELOW Boulder Drop and end below Fisherman's. For the classic race (about a 20 minute course), the first racer will start at 10:30 am on Saturday.  Since we're not expecting a huge crowd, you could be done by 11:00!  You could then play your way down the river. Sprint's (each will take about 2 minutes) will be at Fisherman's Rapid and start at 2:30 pm Saturday. Each racer's second run will start at 3:30 pm.  On Sunday there will be sprint runs at Railroad Bridge rapid starting at 10 and then at 11.  That's it!

If you are very comfortable paddling that section of the Skykomish and know your basic rescue skills, please come help us out!  Please send an email to Race Director Marin Millar at marin.millar@outlook.com.
