Kayaking classes with Nigel Foster are an ideal way to prepare for the approaching paddling season and to develop your paddling techniques.
Two Directional Control classes are being offered in Seattle this coming month:
One on Saturday, March 19th. The other on Saturday, March 26th.
There is a possibility for a Forward Stroke clinic on Sunday, March 20th
Nigel will go into the finer details of how to get the maximum effect with the minimum effort from your paddling.
In the Directional Control class, Nigel will explain some of the physics of how the kayak works in water and then, how it responds when the element of wind is introduced. This class covers basic edging, turning and padding in wind. It is suitable for all levels of paddlers, except, perhaps, first timers. Nigel has something for everyone and will give you the information that you need at your level.
In the Forward Stroke class, Nigel will break the forward stroke down into small elements and work on those to help you understand its mechanics. He will help you identify triggers of an inefficient stroke and teach what to do about them so that you can continue to improve your stroke after you leave the class.
Nigel’s teaching style is gentle. He breaks things down into small manageable steps and slowly works up towards mastering a technique.
All classes are being held in Seattle at Golden Gardens. The classes meet at 9:00 for a 10:00 start and get off the water about 4:00.
The cost is $150 per person.
