Sunday January 22 was the training day this year for the WW class in March. We take folks from previous classes and others interested to work with them on dealing with students and simple retrieval and rescue skills. The WW instructors get to play students who are fearful, incompetent, and don’t listen well. I do have to say that Matt, Nicole Chad, John, Shanna and Rick are very good at being very poor students!
We had “students” who did everything wrong and repeatedly. Helmets and pfds were not secured and sprayskirt grab loops inside the boats.
We had about a dozen swims (including 3-4 at a time), crash and burn paddling, and gear strewn over
the Powerhouse run of the Snoqualmie River. In the pool we had more of the same with poor wet exits and t-rescues.
Our prospective class helpers (Chris, Jeremy, Jenn, Zachary, Jeff, Dave, Will and Seton) did a great job at encouraging and rescuing our poor inept students and their gear.
Lots of fun for all!
