Trip leader training day..
Learn to be an effective trip leader. This clinic will begin with a couple hours of classroom training, where we will go over the WKC website and the tools needed and used for leading a trip, the vetting process via email and/or phone, choosing a river, getting helpers, etc. From there we will transition to a river, where we will focus on safety as our number one priority, as well as on-water leadership, choosing routes, safety talks, etc.
Taking this class and learning what makes a good trip leader is rewarding, it will boost your confidence on the water and fine tune your river skills. While leading trips you learn to focus on your surroundings and the folks you're leading instead of just the front of your bow.
Our annual trip planning party will be held in January, and there will be incentives to lead trips throughout the year including free WKC t-shirts, gift certificates raffles, etc.. We will also be holding a couple CPR/Basic First Aid courses, which will be free for those that lead just one whitewater trip in the class II or II+ range in 2018. And one more incentive to lead trips, 1/2 off of the WKC sponsored swiftwater rescue course which is posted for Mar 31/Arpil 1 & another course May 19 & 20th.
