Salmon in the Cedar

I floated the Cedar River Friday Oct 2 at 357cfs from the Hwy 18 overpass down to just above the Cedar Rapids area. I took a novice paddler and he did "ok" and we made it down, and encountered plenty of wood on the sides,but none blocking.
We saw only about 15 sockeye in the first mile below hwy 18 and maybe 15 small kings in the river below for the next few miles. A few dead salmon seen.
I used to see 100+ per mile in the past 24 yrs of floating this river. These are the first salmon to even come up this year, now in October. Oh my. Mike Grijalva
