My father recently passed away, and I am working through his collection of kayaks, hoping to find new owners for them. He was a very avid boater for much of my life and has a ton of paddles, dry bags, float bags, wetsuits etc. I am starting out with his prized Mariner Escape, that he took delivery of in July of 1982 from the Broze brothers (I spoke with Matt to confirm the details). According to Matt my father (Steve) did what he could to make this boat light weight, including requesting minimal gelcoat. It came out to 44 lbs. and was constructed with a one-layer Kevlar the hull, had the optional sliding seat and optional U-bolt added, as well as a Pyhi brand hatch in front. It was done in Zulu blue gelcoat (clear resin with dye in it). I would say it is in well used but well-loved condition. He stored it inside and always washed it thoroughly when returning from a trip.
