Please tell the Department of Natural Resources that less than two weeks’ notice for comments on a SEPA determination of non-significance is inadequate. The public expects the DNR to provide a minimum of 30 days for public comment. Request DNR to extend the comment period so the public has an opportunity to review the SEPA (State Environmental Policy Act) determination and provide adequate comment.
A few things to know and consider:
**This timber sale includes approximately 105 forested acres adjacent to Ennis Creek, removal of approximately 1,661 million board feet of timber, 840 tons of biomass and construction of 3,000 linear feet of roadway.
**There are unresolved issues with the Department of Ecology that must first be addressed before this determination should be made.
**Ennis Creek has a reputation for being the last best chance of salmon stream in Port Angeles based upon numerous scientific reports.
**Ennis Creek has a steelhead population, a species nearly considered endangered.
**Ennis Creek has a spiritual significance to tribes.
** Ennis Creek has foot and bicycle trails, and bicycle races which attract many participants.
**Ennis Creek has large commitments of tax dollars for fish passage downstream at Hwy 101. Why would the State invest in downstream fish passage but reduce healthy upstream fish habitat?
**There has been steadfast local advocacy by the City of Port Angeles with endorsements by Clallam County and Port Angeles Business Association for complete cleanup of Ennis Creek.
**US Senator Patty Murray’s and US Congresswoman Emily Randall’s staff have a scheduled trail walk on June 8, 2026.
I hope you find these few reasons (there are more) to request that the timber sale process be put on hold until after the Department of Ecology conflicts are resolved.

and request the DNR to extend the public comment period. Less than two weeks is not enough time.
