Clinic Overview: This clinic is for paddlers who wish to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to safely navigate and manage risks in big water whitewater environments. This clinic emphasizes safety, rescue techniques, risk management, and responsible river stewardship, with a blend of dryland real-world discussions and hands-on practice on the water.

Clinic starts at 10am sharp.



TRIP WILL BE ON THE NISQUALLY - Friday Update
The Big Water Safety Clinic will be on the Nisqually River.  Meeting at the Yelm Hydroplant at 10:00am sharp. River conditions are high, Water will likely be near bank full on the falling arm of the hydrograph per the NWRFC .  Eddy fences will be powerful, hazardous wood may have been emplaced in new locations.  A reliable roll is mandatory.




Current River options depending on flows:
1 Lower Green River Gorge if 2800K-3000K or Less
2 Nisqually river (McKenna to Yelm) if Lower Green River is too high.
3 Decision will try to be confirmed Thursday before clinic but no later than Friday mid-day.

-Swimming proficiency, water comfort, fitness, and conditioning for challenging conditions.








Who Should Attend: Paddlers with at least Class III ability who want to improve their rescue skills and safety awareness in big water scenarios. Prior kayaking experience and comfort swimming in moving water is required.


Required Gear:
A WW kayak or Pac Raft you feel comfortable rescuing others and paddling in pushier water.
Float bags for hardshell kayakers.
Throw rope.
