The WKC Basic Sea Kayaking Class of 2018 was another success. We had 20+ students and 10 lead instructors and 8 helpers. The format this year changed a bit for Friday night and we found that it worked better getting everyone a chance to have a one on one in our talks on Body, boat, blade and essentials. The time was spent well and all were able to ask questions and hopefully learn about the key points of kayaking from the land perspective.
Saturday, we spent the time on the water in 5 groups and each group got to do the basic strokes to help them move thru the water and achieve the balance for basic kayaking. Sunday we were able to divide the groups into 4 groups and review strokes from the day before and teach rescues. Several got to go thru the pass and experience some of the wonder of Deception Pass. Even though it rained we were all in for the graduation.
Many thanks to the students and volunteer instructors for a job well done.
