Nisqually River Eagle Watching Play trip report.

By Michael Deckert

All attendees arrived on time and quickly prepared their gear.  Warm clothes and drysuits were donned, shuttle was arranged and boats loaded.  After an unremarkable shuttle through the outskirts of Yelm, the horde arrived at the put-in and pondered the 2420cfs of slightly brown water coursing past the  put-in.

The first wave was surfed just after putting in.  The first eagle was spotted just before entering the first rapid.

More waves were surfed, the sun came out, more eagles were spotted.

In all, countless waves were surfed on a surprisingly sunny day.  Big Kahuna Rapid had several nice waves while the Big Kahuna Wave itself had a nicely formed breaking pocket.

18 eagles watched the playful kayakers through the course of the day.
