Easy Rider Kevlar Take-A-Part Sea Kayak 15' $2...
Author Last Post
Easy Rider Kayak has been in business since 1970. President and designer, Peter Kaupat, is winding down his business, I bought his last 15’ Take-A-Part kayak last year, it was priced at $5100. I added a deluxe foam seat, Custom knee braces, deck compass, rain cover, deck lines, and a bolt feature for making assembly quicker. Total cost for me was $5956. I needed something I could store in my upstairs condo, and I have taken the kayak out about 15 times. I was pushed sideways into a piling on one outing and took it to Peter for factory repair. I have provided before and after repair photos below. Feel free to call Peter about this kayak.
These kayaks are superior to any folding kayak in seaworthiness, performance, and ease of assembly. Because it has double bulkheads where the sections join, it is stronger than one-piece boats. The individual sections are securely connected at their bulkheads by means of stainless-steel bolts, washers, lock washers, and wing nuts. Replaceable neoprene O-ring seals in-between the bulkheads give excellent waterproofing. Easy Rider’s patented rudder system is self-centering. Designed for world travel, the Take-A-Part can be stored in a closet, checked as luggage, stowed in a boat cabin, and hauled on or in a SUV. I don’t have the carry bags.
The kayak is stable and paddles well forward or backward. I am a 70-year-old novice (about 15 paddles) and I can Eskimo roll this kayak. For the right person, this could be a great deal.
