River Safety and Rescue Class
April 18 & 19th
Casey Garland will again present a course on river safety, rope utilization and rescue techniques. Team leadership and rescue planning will also be covered to achieve the best results in a rescue effort. This will be a very full, tiring weekend, come prepared to participate and get wet!
This class is great for a beginning whitewater kayaker or even a kayaker looking to tune up their rescue skills. Be prepared for those times when things can and do go wrong on the river, be a useful boating buddy.
2-day class (Sat/Sun); Max 14 participants
4/18 (Sa) 9am - 5pm
4/19 (Su) 9am - 5pm
Lectures will be held at Mike Grijalva's house Saturday morning before heading to the river. River work will likely be on the Cedar River, Landsburg site.
Cost:
$75, If you lead one WKC trip in 2020 (not to be combined with other discounts).
$150 regular cost of 2-day clinic. Notify the
whitewater training chair for quarterly reimbursement.

Casey Garland has 40 years of experience as a river rafting outfitter and guide. He is a Swiftwater Rescue Technician Master Instructor and responsible for introducing swiftwater rescue tech training in Washington, Oregon, Canada, Japan and Taiwan. The course emphasis will be placed on evaluation and management of an incident, rope work for support and rescue of a person, and any topic the participants want to discuss during the rescue class that relates specifically to swift water rescue scenarios while kayaking!
