Chiwawa River (Class III with continuous rapids)

The Chiwawa is a great run with several surf spots, but it's also very continuous and has trees/wood and shrubs in the water along both banks for most of its length. Solid class III skills required. This is not an introductory class III run.

The Chiwawa makes a good weekend combo with the Wenatchee (see Jeff Hunt's trip on Saturday, June 12), but can be done as a day trip as well. We will put in at Meadow Creek Campground to avoid challenging portages upstream. If the flow rises above recommended levels, we will likely shift to the Wenatchee.
