Middle Chewuch II-III

This is a great but less frequently paddled river near Winthrop.  Some fun rapids at the beginning and the grand finale at the end.  With the spring flow, the middle slack section goes pretty fast.  The take-out is a free campground if you want to camp there.

AW description

Weaker boaters can take-out before the hardest rapid at the end - Boulder Creek Rapid III+.  You can come earlier to scout it from the campground.

Appropriate boat and safety gear are required. Float bags are mandatory for hard-shell boats. Put bow floatation in creekboats, river runners and half-slice boats.
If unsure, contact the trip leader in advance.

If asked by the shuttle driver/passenger, wear a mask. If you don't want to wear a mask, bring a bike or arrange your own shuttle.
