Holiday Weekend - 7RC White Salmon II-III+

Weekend plan: Sat. Sept. 4: Lower Gorge of the White Salmon(portage Steelhead Falls, class IV-V) Meet at 11 am at Hwy. 141 Husum Bridge Difficulty: II-III+ depending on the sections you paddle. Put-in below Husum Falls and run down to the take-out at the confluence with the Columbia River. This run starts with a 2.75-mile section of class II-II+. There’s an access point at the end of the class II stretch, so we can accommodate paddlers who prefer to only do the class II. Sun. Sept. 5: BZ Corner to Northwestern Park (option to take-out or put-in at Husum Falls) Meet at 10:30 at BZ Corner launch site for class III+ run Difficulty: II-III+ depending on the sections you paddle. For class III+ run, launch at BZ Corner. Take-out at Husum Falls or choose to also run the 2.75-mile class II stretch below. Class II run meeting time TBD and will require flexibility / patience for group to arrive. Put-in below Husum Falls and take-out at Northwestern Park. Monday, Sept. 6: TBD - choice of run based on leader / group preference. Camping – We cannot 100% guarantee that a campsite will be reserved for you, so please be aware of the following and develop your own back-up plan. Our goal is to take over the campsites from the WKC weekday White Salmon group and continue to use them over the weekend. The campground is Guller Mt. Adams Park in the town of Trout Lake. If this idea works out as we envision it, then we should be able to accommodate several people at this campground. Please bring cash to help split the camping fee.
If this campground is not available, then there are several National Forest Campgrounds in the area, and sites for dispersed camping in the forest. If it turns out that we all must follow plan B, then we will probably be in different locations Friday night or Saturday morning. This is why we have listed the Saturday and Sunday meeting times and locations for kayaking.
