White Salmon Weekend (II/III+)

One of the best rivers in the state with something for just about everyone!

The plan is to run from BZ Corner to Northwestern Park with options for people to pick what section they want to run. The section from BZ corner to Husum is a class 3+ river gorge with somewhat steep rapids. Husum Falls marks the bottom of this section and is a class 4 waterfall that can easliy be portaged or run multiple times since it has convenient access. We can scout this from the road on the way to the put in. The section below Husum to Northwestern Park, called the lower, is a fun class 2-2+ run with a great surf wave called Cave Wave.

There is another section below Northwestern Park, often called the lower lower, that goes all the way to the Columbia. Althought the plan doesn't currently include this section, there may be an option for it one of the days and depending on the group preferences. I would be looking for someone to lead this section if we have people interested since I have not run it before. This is a class 3 run with excellent scenery and one mandatory portage around Stealhead Falls.

We will be meeting at Northwestern Park each day at 11 to coordinate running shuttle and figuring out who would like to run which section.

The towns of White Salmon and Hood River both have great options for dining, brewerys, and lodging. Camping and dining will be coordinated outside of the event. Most likely people (including myself) will want to camp at Trout Lake, the campground is called Guler Mt. Adams County Park. I will be at the campground starting Friday night and anyone can reach out to me directly to coordinate camping.
