A leisurely trip exploring a superb scenic stretch of coast with caves and tide pools. We will meet at 9am to set up a car shuttle and paddle one way from Cabana Park in Anacortes to Bowman Bay at Deception Pass State Park (remember your Discover Pass). Or we may go the other way depending on the wind direction. The route will go along the scenic E side of Burrows and Allen Islands, out to Richardson Rocks, then cross to Biz Point for lunch. Then we will explore caves and rock gardens, head out to Deception Island, then Back to Bowman Bay. About 8 nm total distance with at least two stops along the way. Currents are expected to be light but (hopefully) there may be some eddies here and there.
Please contact me if you have never paddled with me before, and we'll discuss what is expected for this trip and the degree of chop you are comfortable with. But it is fun to have a bit of up and down along the cliffs.
Weather contingencies include going Saturday, another weekend, or a more protected location instead.
