Guemes Island

About this event

This is the easiest of the San Juan Seven, but not the shortest.  There are two options I am considering for this trip:  circumnavigate or spend a leisurely day exploring the islands around Saddlebag in the scenic SE corner.  We will launch from the Guemes ferry dock in Anacortes at 10am or so in either case.

The circumnavigation option would be about 14 miles (with current assist) include interesting and fun currents in Bellingham Channel, and could also include a side trip through the Cactus Islands (add 1 mile).  There may be an upstream battle in Guemes Channel to return to launch.  (An earlier launch would alleviate this).

The leisurely option would include a stop at Saddlebag and some milling around the other rocky isles (Hat, Dot, and Huckleberry)  and spectacular shoreline cliffs and a screaming ride down Guemes Channel back home.  About 10 miles.

And yes, this is another excuse to go eat at Frida's afterwards.
