Blake Island 2-Night Kayak Camping SK II

(2) Launch options:

Preferred launch:
Launch at Don Armeni paddle along the Alki beach shoreline, crossing shipping lanes to Blake 6 NMs each way, designed for sea kayakers who have experience with 3 mile crossing, bracing and previous group and self rescue practice.
   To prepare for 2/6 mile Northwest Paddle Festival race this crossing will be at a 3.5 NM pace

 

Alternate launch: TBD
Southworth has a 1 NM crossing to Blake with 2 mile shoreline paddle to campgrounds.


Friday evening we can do a hike around the island or a sunset paddle around the island.

Saturday we can do day trip to Vashon or Southworth for lunch with a circumnavigate paddle around Blake Island.

Wetsuit/drysuit required

This trip is open to WKC / BEWET / and NSSKA club members in good standing
Basic sea kayak rescue training required (Assisted/Self re-entry rescue experience is required)
Sea Kayak must be equipped with bulkheads, deck-lines.
Wet-suit/dry-suit required
Marine radio-recommended for crossing shipping lanes
