If you're interested in improving your kayaking efficiency, endurance to be able to go further or kayaking for fitness and would like to get started, please join us for a short intro outing.
Lets work on building some fitness for paddling. Join me in working on technique and some intervals to build strength and endurance for longer and faster paddles over time. This outing will start with some basic warmup and forward stroke practice, followed by a 4 mile paddle to Maydenbauer Bay and back. Maydenbauer Bay has a new waterfront park.
This is not intended to be a leisurely paddle or an outing with long stops - though we will make one or two stops for a drink or quick bite as needed on the water.
Please come prepared with your kayak, paddle, PFD, whistle, dry or wet suit. Hat, gloves and spray skirt recommended. Energy bars/gel or bananas and water/drink recommended - bonking (we'll learn more about what that is if you don't know the term) on a outing is no fun.
We'll likely be paddling at pace higher than a leisurely pace - if you're not sure what your pace is, I'll have a GPS watch on me to give you an idea what your cruising or even sprint speeds are if you're curious.
If there's interest, we can swap paddles to try the various paddle types (wing, euro, Greenland).
Please note the start time is the time we launch from the beach. Please plan on arriving at least 30 minutes or more earlier to prep and get your boat onto the water.
