Surf Zone Clinics for Surf/WW/SOT and Sea Kayaks
Events: Individually Tailored Surf Kayaking Clinics

Description: These clinics are designed for the kayaker who is interested in learning to surf their choice of kayak (surf kayak, sit-on-top, whitewater kayak or sea kayak) safely or to safely paddle out, approach and land their kayak in surf zone conditions. Clinics are scheduled as three hour blocks focused on introducing students to the specific skills needed to enjoy paddling in the near shore surf environment.
Objective: Learn how to launch and land safely, how to surf the paddle craft of your choice, and learn safety and rescues techniques for the surf zone. Highly qualified and experienced ACA certified instructors will provide individualized training at all skill levels in both group and one-on-one settings in your personal kayak. Choose one three hour training session or several depending on your personal schedule and goals. Advanced skills can be taught as students progress.
The surf zone is an amazing environment for developing many kayaking skills at once and it can be a fun place to learn! Improve bracing, balance and edging skills and progress in stroke proficiency. You will learn new techniques for reading moving water and have opportunities to practice the skills in a supportive environment. For more advanced paddlers, begin to learn, improve or refine surfing maneuvers and skills.

Location: Neah Bay WA (Hobuck Beach), alternate Straits of Juan de Fuca (as required by conditions)
Maximum Number of Students per 3 hour session: 6
Equipment requirements: Cold water paddling gear (including dry suit or equivalent), PFD, helmet, paddle
Boat requirement: Personal Kayak (Sea, Surf, Sit-on-top or closed deck)
Cost: $75 per session
